Hello Natalie,

I am fascinated by your story and can't wait to read more. I've spent the last few weeks working on an essay about my own loss of faith. Anyway, I really like your blog and I decided to nominate you for two awards -- the “Inspiring Blog Award” and “One Lovely Blog Award” In case you should be interested, you post 7 facts about yourself and nominate 15 bloggers you like. Here’s where you can find my post nominating you in case you're curious. http://thesaltwatertwin.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/pretty-fancy/
Happy posting,

Lovely! Bethany posted about happening on a choir rehearsal in a cathedral in London, and the sense of the sacred that inspired. I think that hearing music in a cathedral--especially all unexpected--offers another point of entry.

You're born, you live, you die: life comes nicely bookended. In writing something that doesn't follow this complete narrative structure somehow bristles. Trying to describe an experience that is supposed to teach you something feels like it should naturally end with a lesson. Maybe this is why you're struggling?

If it makes you feel better here is an article from Britains greatest living satirist, in my opinion, and his struggle with the confines of fiction writing.

As you say maybe as a teacher you are approaching this in a too familiar way, are you trying to share your experiences or are you writing a lecture?
